1. Description & Applications
ERCoCr-A Flux-Cored Wire is a tubular composite hardfacing wire that deposits a cobalt-base alloy equivalent to Stellite 6 (CoCr-A). It combines the legendary wear, corrosion, and high-temperature resistance of cobalt alloys with the high deposition efficiency and productivity of flux-cored welding wire. The weld deposit provides outstanding resistance to metal-to-metal wear, high-temperature oxidation, severe thermal shock, and cavitation erosion up to 800°C (1472°F).
Key Applications:
-
High-pressure and high-temperature valve seats, gates, and plugs
-
Continuous casting rolls, hot shearing blades, and piercing plugs
-
Steam turbine valves and chemical processing components
-
Industrial mixing screws, pump shafts, and agricultural wear parts
Classification: AWS A5.21 ECoCr-A equivalent (Tubular Flux-Cored Hardfacing Wire)
Product Type: Cobalt-Based Hardfacing Wire for FCAW / GMAW
2. Nominal Chemical Composition of Weld Deposit (wt%)
| Element | C | Cr | W | Fe | Ni | Si | Mn | Co |
| Min (%) | 0.90 | 26.00 | 4.00 | — | — | — | — | Bal. |
| Max (%) | 1.40 | 32.00 | 6.00 | 3.00 | 3.00 | 2.00 | 2.00 | Balance |
3. Mechanical & Deposit Properties (As-Welded)
-
Hardness (As-Welded): 38 – 44 HRC (typical for multi-layer deposits)
-
High-Temperature Hardness: Retains excellent hardness and structural integrity up to 650°C (1200°F)
-
Deposit Microstructure: Austenitic solid-solution matrix reinforced with primary chromium and tungsten carbides
-
Machinability: Machinable with carbide tooling; precision finishing is best accomplished by grinding
4. Recommended Welding Parameters (FCAW-G / Gas-Shielded)
-
Shielding Gas: 80% Argon + 20% $\text{CO}_2$ (or 100% Argon depending on application), Flow rate: 15–25 L/min
-
Current Type: DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive)
