Aws A5.9 Er2594 Stainless Steel Welding Wire for MIG/Mag Welding

Short Description:

ER2594 is a nominal 25% Cr / 9% Ni / 4% Mo / 0.25% N super duplex stainless steel solid welding wire designed for GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) processes. It features a controlled microstructural ferrite-austenite ratio (typically 30–60% ferrite) along with high levels of Chromium, Molybdenum, and Nitrogen. This chemical balance yields an exceptionally high Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN≥40), delivering outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and high mechanical strength.

1. Description

ER2594 is a nominal 25% Cr / 9% Ni / 4% Mo / 0.25% N super duplex stainless steel solid welding wire designed for GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) processes. It features a controlled microstructural ferrite-austenite ratio (typically 30–60% ferrite) along with high levels of Chromium, Molybdenum, and Nitrogen. 2. Applications

  • Welding matching super duplex stainless steels (e.g., UNS S32750 / 2507, UNS S32760 / Zeron 100, 1.4410, 1.4501).

  • Fabrication of offshore oil & gas production platforms, subsea pipelines, risers, and manifolds.

  • Chemical process equipment, seawater desalinization plants, FGD scrubbers, and high-pressure reverse osmosis systems.

  • Dissimilar metal joining between super duplex alloys and standard austenitic or carbon steels.

Selection Note

ER2594 is typically over-alloyed with nickel (around 9.5%) compared to the base metal to promote austenite formation under rapid weld cooling, balancing the ferrite/austenite ratio. For a certified TDS for a specific brand or heat number, check the spool label and request the mill certificate.
