ER307Si is a solid austenitic stainless steel wire designed for MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding. The high
manganese content (4.5-7.5%) provides exceptional resistance to hot cracking, while the added silicon improves arc
stability, puddle fluidity, and bead appearance.
· Work-Hardening Characteristics: Weld metal exhibits strain-hardening properties up to ~400 HB under heavy
impact or severe friction.
· Dissimilar Steel Joining: Excellent for joining austenitic stainless steel to carbon steel, low-alloy steel, armor
plate, or tool steel.
· Manganese Steel Repair: Ideal for cladding and buffer layers on 13% Mn steel components before hardfacing.
Key Applications:
• Welding armor steel, high-carbon steel, tool steel, and manganese steel (13% Mn steel).
• Joining dissimilar steels (e.g., austenitic stainless steel to mild/low-alloy carbon steel).
• Buffer layer/underlayment before hardfacing or wear-resistant cladding.

5. Usage Notes
- Pre-weld cleaning: thoroughly remove rust, moisture, oil, and dirt from the welding area; use a stainless-steel dedicated wire brush.
- Interpass temperature: recommended ≤150°C.
- Wind protection: when welding outdoors with wind speed >1.5 m/s, use wind shielding to prevent porosity.
- Arc length: short arc, spray arc, or pulsed arc recommended; pulsed arc preferred.
- Polarity: MIG uses DC+ (electrode positive)
